Niek Depoorter holds a law degree (1987-1992), as well as a master's degree in business administration from the University of Antwerp.

Over his long career at Arvesta, Niek has held various positions. He started out as a buyer/dealer at Group Aveve (1994-2000), before becoming Operations Manager (2000-2003) and then CEO at Hortiplan (2003-2017).

Niek has also held the positions of Operations Manager (2006-2011) and then CEO (2011-2016) at Sanac. Between 2016-2017, he served as Operations Manager at Arvesta's Agri & Horti business unit, later holding the position of Director from 2017-2023.

Since 1 January 2024, Niek Depoorter has been serving as Arvesta CEO.
