Sustainable monoplastic packaging at Aveve flower, Soezie and Niamh
BUT IT DOESN'T STOP HERE
The most sustainable packaging is the packaging you don't use. Arvesta is therefore conducting further research into possibilities for reducing packaging, but here too, without sacrificing quality or shelf life. And not only flour, but also animal feed is critically re-examined for its packaging.
Sustainable monoplastic packaging at Aveve flower, Soezie and Niamh
Together with the switch to the new packaging design, by 2023 100% of Aveve Bloem's consumer packs of bread and baking mixes will be packed with the new, recyclable mono plastic film. By then, the baking mixes of Niamh and Soezie brands will also be in 100% recyclable packaging. Niamh is a forerunner, as a large proportion of its packaging is already fully recyclable. In addition to more sustainable packaging materials, we also aim for less packaging; a reduction of 10 to 20% should be possible.
"Aveve flour manufactures all its bread and baking mixes at its production site in Merksem. Aveve Bloem had a brand new packaging developed for these products. It had to be recyclable, but not only that. Aveve Bloem does not want to make any concessions when it comes to quality and shelf life, because then food waste is lurking around the corner and that is at odds with sustainability. When it comes to food, sustainability is a complex story. We took all aspects into account and arrived at the best solution for our packaging, which became a monoplastic, consisting of one type of plastic and therefore more recyclable."
